Neighborhood Watch

Neighborhood Watch is one of the oldest and most well-known crime prevention concepts in history. Our Neighborhood Watch Committee is comprised of volunteer homeowners. If you have suspicious activity to report please contact your Neighborhood Watch Committee Volunteer.

Speeders Beware – Slow down! 25 mph – please! As we have children in this neighborhood, please watch your speed. Just because we don’t have a posted speed limit sign doesn’t mean we should be zipping down the streets at a high rate of speed. Please be observant of this fact and discuss with all licensed drivers in your household.

Fire Extinguishers – Please check to make sure your fire extinguisher is fully charged and kept in areas where all household members know where it is located.

Smoke Detectors – Smoke alarms save lives. Almost two-thirds of home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms. When there is a fire, smoke spreads fast and you need smoke alarms to give you time to get out. Check your batteries monthly and replace them once a quarter: Jan. 1, April 1, Aug. 1, Dec. 1. Have a house fire escape plan for your family.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors – Carbon Monoxide can be deadly! You can’t see or smell carbon monoxide, but at high levels it can kill a person in minutes. Carbon monoxide (CO) is produced whenever any fuel such as gas, oil, kerosene, wood, or charcoal is burned. If appliances that burn fuel are maintained and used properly, the amount of CO produced is usually not hazardous. However, if appliances are not working properly or are used incorrectly, dangerous levels of CO can result. Hundreds of people die accidentally every year from CO poisoning caused by malfunctioning or improperly used fuel-burning appliances. Even more die from CO produced by idling cars.

Fetuses, infants, elderly people, and people with anemia or with a history of heart or respiratory disease can be especially susceptible. Be safe. Practice the DO’s and DON’Ts of carbon monoxide. Check your Carbon Monoxide detectors and make sure they are working properly.

Replace Furnace Filters – Replacing filters every other month can cut down on utility bills. Install them correctly and make sure to secure your new filters in place and use the locking mechanism.

Home Security – If you have faded home security signs in your yard or on your windows, you can replace them by calling your security alarm company or by ordering replacements from eBay. Every house should be properly marked with signs and stickers to deter burglary attempts in our neighborhood. Help keep all of us safe by adding signs and stickers.

No Soliciting Decals – No Soliciting decals can be purchased through Amazon.com or eBay. Please add a No Soliciting static cling decal to your front door or front window to help protect your home from possible burglary attempts.

On behalf of the Neighborhood Watch Committee – Thank You for your support in keeping our community safe.
